Join Our Team as a Roadway Engineer!

Help us shape safer, more connected roadways and highways across Florida, ensuring our infrastructure meets the unique needs of the state’s cities and towns while enhancing the quality of life for the neighbors we share them with. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and local agencies on impactful infrastructure projects. As a Senior Roadway Designer, you will lead the development of engineering models, conduct analysis and design, and prepare supporting calculations and documentation. You’ll also play a key role in coordinating project elements and mentoring others, ensuring our designs align with Florida’s vision for improving transportation safety while maintaining functional operations of our roads and highways.

• Lead with confidence: Serve as the Engineer of Record for less complex projects or tasks, taking ownership of design and quality assurance.
• Set the technical standard: Act as the lead technical professional, mentoring and directing engineers-in-training (EIs), designers, and other technical staff to deliver exceptional work.
• Drive success: Conduct calculations, prepare designs, and ensure compliance with FDOT standards and local agency requirements.
• Collaborate to innovate: Partner with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and stakeholders to develop creative, client-focused solutions.
• Foster growth: Provide guidance and frequent peer reviews to junior team members, building a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
• Make your Mark: Support business development by presenting to clients, assisting with marketing efforts, and representing multidisciplinary teams in pursuit of new opportunities.

What Makes You a Great Fit

To excel as a Roadway Engineer, you’ll need to bring more than just technical skills. Here’s what makes you a great fit:

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida: You’re licensed and ready to lead.
• Experience that counts: 5–10 years of progressive roadway design experience, with expertise in FDOT and local Florida agency projects. With at least 6 months of post PE experience.
• Technical proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microstation OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
• FDOT expertise: A strong understanding of the FDOT Design Manual, Standard Plans, and related procedures.
• Communication mastery: Excellent verbal and written communication skills that build trust and inspire confidence.
• Organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure precision in every detail.
• Team leadership: A collaborative spirit with a proven ability to guide teams and deliver results.
