POSITION SUMMARY:

Plan and implement a diversified educational, social and recreational program and activities for teen members ages 13-18 and young adult members and staff ages 19 – 24 years. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct and operate programs and services for teen members and young adult members and staff ages, in accordance with the standards, philosophies, and policies of the State of Maine licensing guidelines within budget limitations.
  • Organize and implement applicable programming, events, field trips and excursions for Kennebec County TANF participants.
  • Work with Finance to provide necessary financial information, including hours and documentation of all hourly employees, to comply with grants.
  • Work with Grants Manager to assist with Teen Program related grant funded initiatives, including running grant funded programs, reporting, and data collection.
  • Implement, promote, and publicize the programs and activities.
  • Assist teen members with behavior, attitude, or emotional concerns and make referrals to third party professionals when necessary.
  • Keep accurate and adequate records of attendance, participation, and progress of all participants.
  • Accomplish department and organizational objectives by managing staff and their performance, planning, scheduling and evaluating staff, recruiting, selecting, orienting and training staff, coaching employees to foster growth opportunities and completing required paperwork in a timely manner.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • BA or BS in Child Development or related field
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in childcare, teen programming, group social work, recreational field, social education field, or outdoor/camp programs.
