Summary of Job
A candidate for the Alfred Food & Beverage Manager is analytical, solution-oriented, and extremely knowledgeable on all things food and coffee. Being observant and open-minded on how to improve the Alfred customer experience constantly is exciting to you and gets you energized, daily. You love experimenting with recipes, and tinkering until something is perfect, but have an eye toward operational efficiencies. Organization, communication skills, and managing customer retention are some of your strongest suits. You look forward to being part of a team that is focused on and driven by company core values. You are ready to travel to Austin, LAX, and throughout Los Angeles, and ensure that the quality of each customer experience is consistent and top-notch.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an Alfred expert for all things menu, equipment, and operations.
- Support in new location openings from planning to set up to the grand opening and beyond.
- Be present to observe operational and bar flow inefficiencies & adjust, and measure the team’s output of quality.
- Be an Alfred champion by ensuring that the quality and consistency of Alfred’s food, beverage, retail, and operations adhere to our high standards.
- When items are found to not adhere to our high standards, formulate a report and build a plan to ensure said products and systems can meet quality standards.
- Upgrade equipment, and work with upper management to amend menus and procedures as needed.
- Visit cafes constantly and check their drink setup, ingredient stock, cleanliness, and organization.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Support Cafe Managers in advising how to find new systems of operations on workflow to support overall operations better.
- Recipe test, and iterate on recipes to align on best operational practices for cafes and best flavor profiles for customers.
- Maintain vendor relationships by monitoring costs, ingredient availability, and deliveries, and be able to forecast ingredient volume for future F&B items.
- Review Waste Goals monthly and provide reports to upper management. Partner with cafe managers to maintain proper food waste goals while maximizing profitability.
- Review Health Inspection Reports and create action plans if items are found to not meet standards.
- Review twice monthly HACCP (Health and Critical Control Points) reports to ensure all cafes are up to proper Food & Health Safety Protocols.
- Build strong relationships with Area Managers, Cafe Managers, and Directors of Alfred.
- Inspecting the various departments to verify whether rules and standards are complied with.
- Work with the Training Department on all operational changes and updates for consistency company-wide.
- Work with F&B Director & Retail Operations with building out the floor plans of new Alfred locations.
- Work with F&B Director on eliminating products that are not up to standards and sourcing new products.
- Work with F&B Director on simplifying drink building and food preparation.
- Ensures Cafe Quality Assessments are completed each month with the Quality Control Assistant and provides reports to upper management.
- Work with the Quality Control Assistant to review and maintain quality expectations and hospitality for all Alfred locations.
- Help forecast opening and closing schedules for new locations.
- Quarterly visits to Alfred Austin and Alfred LAX with the duty to report observations to various departments as necessary.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Company’s employee handbook.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned to meet company goals.
Qualifications
Documentation Responsibilities
- Keep detailed reports of findings to the VP, Retail Operations, and F&B Director.
- Keep detailed accounts of communication with Managers and Area Managers, with an organized and consistent follow-up time.
- Correct on-the-spot errors and problems as you see them.
- Email and Slack communication is necessary between all staff.
- Google Drive: organize and maintain documents and detailed visits as necessary.
- Notion: Maintain and upkeep operational pages when changes occur to keep all information current.
What You’ll Need
- 3 years of experience in a Food & Beverage management role, or similar.
- 3 years of experience involving analyzing/translating data and implementing standards on a company-wide scale.
- Experience in coffee, tea, or cafe operations.
- Proficiency with Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and emailing is required.
- Passionate about Alfred company culture and values, with a dedication towards instilling our values in everything we do.
