What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precast/Prestress Journeyman position at Alfred Miller Companies?
Essential Functions
1. Layout and install structural steel and embeds in accordance with provided drawings
2. Layout and install structural steel and wood formwork in accordance with provided drawings
3. Must communicate proper measurements efficiently with precast apprentices based on provided drawings
4. Operate forklift and overhead crane as needed to install and remove formwork (training provided to also include rigger/signalman)
5. Assist in placing and finishing concrete
6. Properly remove formwork allowing the rigging team to strip the cast piece
Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for Success
1. Ability to fluently use tape measure as well as various power tools
2. Ability to read and understand precast shop drawings effectively
3. Ability to treat internal and external customers with courtesy, respect, and professionalism
4. Knowledge of and the ability to comply with safety regulations, policies, and procedures
5. Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches and the ability to function effectively as a team player
6. Ability to work a flexible work schedule as needed to best serve our customers
Qualifications
1. Must have 1 years of experience in precast/prestressed concrete and basic carpentry skills
2. Must be fluent with tape measuring and various power tools
3. Capability of completeing tasks without direct, constant supervision
4. Must successfully complete pre-employment requirements that include, but not limited to, drug screening and physical testing
5. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pound objects
