What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Technician position at Alfred Miller Companies?
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform inspections on precast concrete forms prior to pouring concrete. Inspections include component content (embeds, block-outs, lifters, etc.), rebar content and configuration, form size and squareness, concrete surface finish and other items that may be included on the piece drawing.
- Sample fresh concrete for slump, density and air content.
- Perform post-pour inspections on concrete elements. Measure length width, height, location of embedded features, lifters, weld plates, etc.
- Inspect concrete elements prior to shipping to customer. Document correct piece number to shipper, take photo’s of each shipment ensuring the concrete element is defect free and ready to ship.
- Work along side your manufacturing counterpart throughout the day to assist in error free set-up of the molds prior to casting concrete.
- Document quality inspections through the use of “provided” tablet with accuracy and integrity.
Basic skills:
- Ability to obtain PCI Level I & II Certifications
- Basic computer skills - read and write e-mails, working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to read and write English
Advanced skills:
- Current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 Certification
- Prior experience in sampling fresh concrete
- Prior experience working in a precast concrete plant
- 3 years reading drawings and using a tape measure
