Job Description
The research lab of Alibaba Cloud Database is hiring a researcher to work on transformer-based algorithm design / inference acceleration, with a focus on developing efficient medium-size models for resource-constrained computation applications. The lab conducts cutting-edge research and supports the database engine product teams to develop innovative methods for in-DB algorithmic / intelligent services.
Based on the unified storage and computation foundation provided by the database engines, the goal is to provide efficient high-performance in-DB database algorithmic intelligence and inference acceleration.
The preferred candidates should have experience in algorithm development or inference acceleration.
The focus is on the application of natural language processing for database applications (such as NL2SQL, reasoning-enhanced RAG technology augmented by small models, automatic construction of knowledge graphs, analysis, and mining of entities and relationships), and the application of multi-modal models.
The inference acceleration is on the development of KV cache / paged attention related technologies.
The preferred candidate should have a PhD in computer-related majors and have research experience in publishing high-quality papers in top conferences(such as NIPS, ICML, ICLR...).
The workplace is based in the Sunnyvale office in California.

Minimum qualification :
- PhD degree in CS related areas
- Have a track record of research publications in top AI conferences (such as NIPS, ICML, ICLR ...)
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $133,200 and $219,600 / year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department / team performance, and market factors.
Salary : $133,200 - $219,600
