Job Description

1st Shift - 7 : 30 am - 3 : 30 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform inspection(s) of products to determine conformance to all specifications
Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines using pre-written programs
Set-up in accordance with pre-established part set-up instructions
Qualify CMM probes using established calibration routines
Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements
Utilize various manual measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators and other hand-held measuring devices
Utilize other vision-based equipment such as Optical Comparators, Microscopes or 2D profilers for measurement of parts or part characteristics
Understand and perform to all current quality standards
Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required
Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors
Understand GD T concepts including Maximum Material Condition, True Position and Profile of Surface tolerances
Understand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends
Have a basic understanding of machining processes sufficient to support communication of findings to the production floor
Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required
Perform safe operation of CMM machines
Accurately complete all required paperwork
Ensure the proper filing of inspection results on the company server
Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times
Perform basic weekly and daily maintenance of CMM machines
Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements
Provide good feedback and promote good communication with other inspectors from multiple shifts, Quality Engineers, Process Engineers and Machinists

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent

Previous experience operating CMMs

Programming and operation experience using PCDMIS driven CMMs is highly desirable

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
