Summary
Quality Engineer monitors company compliance to industry requirements and serves as an internal and external liaison between the employees and auditors/customers respectively. Quality Engineer will generate reports for quarterly Executive meetings as well as for review in detailing compliance monitoring.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Generate, perform, and monitor internal and external audits
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action activities
- Assist with customer quality audits and answer corrective action requests as assigned
- Complete and correct internal procedures, as changes to requirements are received
- Interact and communicate with all levels of the business to better understand the products and what is the best/proper way to produce them
- Assist with recording quality system metrics
- Analyze customer/industry specifications to review against internal procedures
- Develop and perform training on internal quality system
- Perform equipment Calibrations and to ensure industry compliance
- Evaluates the merit of customer returns, coordinates with customer service and external customers, to determine root cause and corrective action
- Operates as company designee for verification of internal and external test results
- Develop standard operating procedures within department.
- MRB (Material Review Board) and PRB (Preliminary Review Board) board member
- Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor

- Experience or certification in auditing to the AS9100D standard
- Proficient knowledge of all quality systems and special processor requirements
- Experience applicable to root cause analysis and corrective action, and experience drafting procedures and work instructions
- Experience in corrective action investigation techniques such as fishbone diagrams, 5-why’s, Apollo’s etc.
- Professionalism and knowledge of the aerospace industry are necessary to interact with third parties
- Basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
- Working knowledge of MTI’s traveler (router, bill of materials, etc.)
- Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
- Understand and obey safety requirements
- Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED. Associate's degree or vocational/technical school degree recommended. 5-8 years in quality role, auditing or related experience
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
