Job Title: Pre-K Counts Support Specialist
Reports To: Pre-K Counts Program Director & Elementary School Principal
Location: Aliquippa Elementary School
Employment Type: 10-Month, Full-Time
Job Summary
The Pre-K Support Specialist will work with children who need extra support in the Pre-K Counts Program. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support positive behavior, managing challenging behaviors, and ensuring the success of students with diverse needs in the classroom. The specialist will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Behavioral Interventions - Provide direct support to children with special needs by implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed to promote positive behavior and reduce disruptive actions.
- Collaboration with Educators - Work closely with teachers and staff to develop strategies that support positive classroom management and ensure the success of all students.
- Crisis Management - Respond to challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques and other approved methods to ensure the safety of all children.
- Documentation - Maintain accurate and confidential records of student behavior, progress, and any incidents. Provide regular reports to the Program Director and parents/guardians.
- Parental Involvement - Collaborate with families to communicate strategies and progress. Offer resources and guidance to support positive behaviors at home and in the community.
- Team Collaboration - Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and adjust plans as needed to meet the changing needs of students.
- Professional Development - Stay up-to-date with best practices in behavioral support and special education through ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field.
- Experience working with children with special needs, particularly in an early childhood setting.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and intervention strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with diverse needs.
- Preferred: Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Positive Behavior Support (PBS).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Personal care such as toileting and diaper changing of children
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
