Job Summary
As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting optometrists in providing eye care services to patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient exams, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations within the optometry practice.
Duties
- Greet and check-in patients upon their arrival
- Perform preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity and intraocular pressure
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits
- Assist optometrists during eye exams and procedures
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion and removal techniques
- Process and maintain accurate patient medical records
- Utilize electronic health record systems like Epic for documentation
Requirements
- Knowledge of optical terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with medical billing processes
- Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Experience in retail sales or customer service is advantageous
- Proficiency in using aseptic techniques for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene
- Basic understanding of retail math for optical sales transactions
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 32 per week
