The Chemical Handler will interact with the Production and Quality Assurance teams on a daily basis. Must interface with Production Manager, S/R Manager, & Materials Coordinator to provide inventory status and delivery dates, and coordinate movement of product externally to third-party sites, internally between Alkegen sites, and within the Pirson plant.

The Chemical Handler will interact with the Production and Quality Assurance teams on a daily basis. Must interface with Production Manager, S/R Manager, & Materials Coordinator to provide inventory status and delivery dates, and coordinate movement of product externally to third-party sites, internally between Alkegen sites, and within the Pirson plant.
Responsibilities
- Interface with S/R Manager, Quality Assurance and Customer Service to fulfill orders, provide samples of raw materials & finished product, produce documents for shipping and material transfers, complete paperwork, etc.
- Responsible for receiving tanker loads of raw material to site. Inspects trailer upon arrival and collects samples for quality testing. Approves tankers for release and unloads material into bulk storage tanks. Follows similar procedure for receipt of totes liquid materials.
- Responsible for loading/unloading semi trucks, box trucks and containers. Must be comfortable handling loads of varying sizes and shapes.
- Work with Customer Service and Production for on-time delivery of customer orders.
- Generate and update inventory reports when requested.
- Determine daily, which orders are to be received into local ERP system (AS400).
- Supply production team with samples of materials from storage areas when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of interior & exterior of all dock areas; keeps surrounding green space on property free of debris.
- Serves as a backup to the Materials Coordinator in times of absence.
- Visually inspect the finished product prior to storage and prior to staging/loading. Documentation of material quality via pictures and video prior to shipment loading offsite.
- Monitor packaging supplies at production line outputs and re-stock as needed.
- Assist Operators and Quality team with moving/sorting product at end of line when necessary as well as wrapping and movement of material.
- Staging of liquid waste material totes for removal via vacuum truck by third party vendor. Interfacing with vendor to complete necessary permits for work.
- Wrap, label and store pallets and materials in specific locations based on material type. Complete related transactions in AS400 (local ERP system).
- Re-organization of inventory for efficient loading/staging and movement on-site.
- Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, stoop, lift, squat, walk
- Follow facility rules and maintain a clean, safe and orderly workplace environment.
- Must comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company rules and regulations on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
- Responsible for maintaining Alkegen's highest level of safety standards on site including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Will embody Alkegen's core safety principles including but not limited to The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.
- Will champion safety in the workplace each day.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of prior shipping and material handling experience
- 2 years’ experience using a fork truck, required
- 1 year of experience with reach truck, required
- Experience unloading chemical tankers
- Knowledge and understanding of inventory control systems; computer literate in on-line systems (or equivalent).
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written across department lines and levels.
- Demonstrated ability to handle emergency orders, priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated and independent decision-making skills a must.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate to Advanced computer skills including MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel), internet search engines (google, internet explorer), vendor websites, etc.
- Maintain a safety-oriented approach to all tasks.
- $25/hr.
