What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Intern- Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology position at Alkermes?
The Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (MCP) group at Alkermes is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to join a paid 12-week internship program. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary group, receiving close mentorship and collaborating with scientists in medicinal chemistry, modeling and informatics, and biology, to support early-stage drug discovery programs. You will assist in developing and executing cell-based assays to characterize small molecule compounds as potential therapies for central nervous system (CNS) diseases. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an industrial R&D environment, learn experimental design and data analysis, and build a foundation for your future career. This intern role will be onsite in our Waltham, MA location.
Responsibilities
- Learn to operate relevant laboratory instruments to perform fluorescence-based cellular assays
- Assist in developing, validating, and performing plate-based assays to study small molecule binding affinity and kinetics
- Record experimental procedures and data in an electronic lab notebook (ELN) in a concise and timely manner
- Analyze, summarize, and present data to the MCP group and the project team
- Deliver a final presentation to the Alkermes R&D community
- Participate HR sponsored Summer Lunch & Learn Series
