Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Doula to provide support to expectant mothers and their families throughout the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of patient service, medical terminology, and the physiological and anatomical aspects of childbirth. As a Doula, you will play a vital role in empowering families during one of the most significant times in their lives.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous emotional and physical support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth.
- Assist with patient assessment to understand individual needs and preferences.
- Educate families about the childbirth process, including pain management options and newborn care.
- Facilitate communication between the mother, her partner, and healthcare providers to ensure a supportive birthing environment.
- Offer guidance on breathing techniques, relaxation methods, and comfort measures during labor.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology related to pregnancy and childbirth to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
- Support families in developing a birth plan that aligns with their values and preferences.
- Must enroll or be able to enroll as an eMedNY Medicaid Provider.
- Must have your own transportation.
- Must be able to meet clients in-person and virtually.
Experience
- No experience needed, we will train you.
- Previous experience as a Doula or in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy as it pertains to pregnancy and childbirth is essential.
- Strong patient service skills with an emphasis on empathy and active listening.
- Ability to assess patient needs effectively while providing compassionate care.
- Familiarity with various birthing practices and techniques is beneficial.

Pay: $45.84 - $70.00 per hour
