Applicants are expected to possess a valid and appropriate certificate for the vacant position at the time of application as well as all necessary clearances. Additional qualifications and experience will be considered and may be necessary or desirable for individual positions along with a demonstrated competency in writing and communication skills.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
|
- A speech-language pathologist with appropriate ASHA CCC certification and plans to maintain certification (non-CF preferred).
- Primary responsibility will be in the K-4 setting (Edinboro Elementary School), with additional responsibilities for students in grades 5-8 (James W. Parker Middle School) and grades 9-12 (General McLane High School).
- Knowledge of a wide range of student populations, including but not limited to:
- Speech and language delays (e.g., language development delays and disorders, articulation disorders, stuttering, voice disorders).
- Developmental delays, autism, intellectual impairment, ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
- Understanding of typical and atypical speech, language, and communication development across age groups from kindergarten through grade 12.
- Proficiency in utilizing a variety of speech and language assessment tools for screening and conducting thorough speech and language evaluations.
- Experience in writing and implementing communication plans for students.
- Knowledge and utilization of Assistive Technology to support students with communication needs.
- Ability to accurately interpret assessment results to determine speech/language eligibility.
- Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and other relevant special education laws and student rights.
- Strong writing skills for developing Evaluation Reports and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Competency in designing and implementing individualized therapy plans to meet students' speech and language needs.
- Ability to apply positive behavioral interventions to encourage communication and engagement during therapy sessions.
- Commitment to maintaining accurate records of assessments, therapy sessions, and progress reports.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills to monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.
- Ability to educate and collaborate with teachers and parents/guardians regarding speech and language goals, progress, and strategies.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple caseloads and competing priorities effectively in a school environment.
- Commitment to professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the speech/language field.
- Ability to support and utilize the school-wide positive behavior program to reinforce desired student behavior.
- Ability to build positive rapport with students and work collaboratively with faculty regarding speech/language needs.
- Willingness to actively participate in and contribute to building-level teams, including SAP Teams, MTSS Teams, etc.
- Strong cultural competence and ability to communicate in a manner that is sensitive to diverse backgrounds, including cultural, gender, intellectual, and physical differences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, and families.
- Effective verbal communication skills to convey ideas in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
- Adaptability and ability to modify work methods or plans in response to changing conditions and new information.
- Ability to assess one's own performance and implement improvements or corrective actions.
- Commitment to district policies and professional ethical standards.
- Strong emotional regulation skills to remain objective and professional in stressful, sensitive, or challenging situations.
- Proficiency in written communication, including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and spelling in written and electronic documents.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers through professional and appropriate interpersonal interactions.
- Availability to participate in summer responsibilities, including evaluations, ESY (Extended School Year), Kindergarten screening days, and other job-related tasks. Additional summer work will be compensated.
