Veterinary Technician

Our Veterinarian Technician's primary goal is to provide compassionate care and client communication under and alongside our team’s veterinarians. Besides compassion, our veterinarian technicians are required to maintain an expected level of safety for animals and people.

Position Summary: Primarily responsible for providing effective assistance to veterinarians in all aspects of patient care and client service by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of animal medical care, company products, and services.

Qualifications Required:

· High School diploma or it's equivalent

· Two years of proficiency in a veterinary hospital environment preferred

· LVT/RVT preferred

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Greet clients, obtain vital statistics from patients, obtain historical information and medical background of patients from clients

· Effectively communicate treatment plan, preventative services recommended, products offered, and cost of said services and products to clients

· Effectively restrain animals for veterinarians to examine and perform procedures

· Obtain blood, stool, urine, and bodily excretions from patients and demonstrate proper handling of specimens

· Cleaning up and Disposal of animal eliminations and animal remains

· Administration of oral and injectable medications

· Effectively utilize in house laboratory equipment

· Monitoring patients under anesthesia, IV catheter placement, sterile surgical prep

· Appropriately filling prescriptions and over the counter medications

· Obtaining properly positioned radiographs, dental radiographs, and performing dental prophylaxis cleanings

· Extensive cleaning of hospital and equipment demonstrating appropriate disinfecting techniques

· Answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and answering basic medical questions

· Building and Reviewing invoices with clients and obtaining payment for services

· Performing end of day transactions

· Bathing animals and performing simple grooming procedures including but not limited to nail trims, anal gland expression, and sanitary clips

· Proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance of hospital equipment including but not limited to surgical instruments

· Be able to lift/carry up to 40lbs

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Computer proficiency with Microsoft word and excel

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
