PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
- Study industrial processes to maximize the efficiency of equipment applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or related field.
- This position requires a minimum of six months to two years of experience in heavy industry or manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes.
- Ability to speak and write English at a college level.
- Ability to write business reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and employees.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems.
- Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Ability to create reports for review by upper management.
- Computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
