Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced HVAC & Plumbing Estimator to join our team. This role is crucial in providing accurate job pricing for HVAC and plumbing projects. The estimator will conduct site visits, review blueprints, and calculate costs based on materials, labor, and scope of work. Strong technical knowledge, computer skills, and industry experience are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site assessments to determine project scope, materials, and labor requirements.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and job requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC and plumbing projects, considering materials, equipment, and labor costs.
- Work closely with project managers, sales teams, and clients to ensure accurate pricing and job feasibility.
- Utilize estimation software and spreadsheets to track and manage cost calculations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project details.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and labor costs to ensure competitive pricing.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and contracts.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in HVAC and plumbing estimating (residential, commercial, or multi-family preferred).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC components, plumbing materials, and installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- On-site assessment skills to evaluate job scope when no blueprints are available.
- Proficiency with computers and estimating software (Excel, industry-specific programs).
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills to ensure accurate estimates.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple estimates simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
