Job Summary
The Music Director is responsible for the provision of vocal and instrumental music at weekly worship services and special services in accordance with the liturgical calendar (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve).
Essential Functions:
- Partner with the Pastor to select music for worship.
- Recruit and schedule volunteer musicians to sing and/or play instruments for a special music performance each week at worship (year round).
- Lead choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and direct choir performances during worship (September through May only).
- Recruit and manage 4 section leaders to rehearse and perform with choir (September through May only).
- Seek to create a friendly and joyful atmosphere with volunteer musicians, church members, and staff.
- Meet with the pastor on a regular schedule to engage in worship planning.
- Communicate reliably and regularly with pastor and volunteers to coordinate music selections and rehearsals.
- Maintain organizational system for music materials; keep choir area neat and organized.
Qualifications:
- Sight reading of music upon notice is preferred.
- Experience as a church musician (performance and directing) is required.
- Comfort and familiarity with both traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music.
- Experience with Lutheran worship and liturgy preferred.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
