What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Quality Engineer position at All Star Auto Lights?
About the Position
As a Regional Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for process capability studies and understanding the products, processes, and quality controls at multiple re-manufacturing locations (East – Atlanta, GA / Flat Rock, NC/). You will be based out of one location, with frequent travel to the other two sites you support. You will be instrumental in reducing return rate and assuring product and process conformity while collaborating with various departments to ensure alignment and effective communication.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer and promote root cause analysis for top quality issues identified by the business. Use tools like fishbone diagrams, 5 why, and Pareto analysis
- Analyze data from trials, to ensure product and processes are maintained or improved by any changes.
- Develop plans and lead trials for 3M changes (raw material, method, or machine) via the CQV process, ensuring these changes don’t result in incapable processes.
- Develop process flow charts, PFMEA, and control plans for all production processes.
- Establish control charts for processes deemed critical for product performance.
- Reduce risk and assure product and process conformity.
- Instruct, direct, and develop standards for trials that reduce risk and ensure product conformity to internal specifications.
- Provide reliable input and knowledge of industry standards, quality testing, and requirements.
- Based out of one location listed above, and 50%-70% travel to the other two locations with focus on standardizing work across locations.
Skills and Experience
- Ability to coach, train, and motivate employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Math or Engineering preferred. ASQ certifications preferred.
- Proficiency in problem-solving, process mapping, PFMEA, control plans, measurement system analysis, and SPC required.
- Background in Lean manufacturing, documentation of processes and waste identification
- Minimum of 5 years of applied experience in quality functions..
- Project Management and Organizational skills.
- Problem solving/critical thinking.
- Self-starter mentality
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in production, manufacturing, or remanufacturing strongly preferred.
- Optimal candidate will have experience in developing/implementing organizational standards.
