All the Plant Babies is the online houseplant shop of author and content creator Lindsay Sisti, based out of Lindsay’s home-based houseplant nursery in Oak Park, IL. All the Plant Babies specializes in the growing, breeding and selling of Anthuriums and Alocasias in both traditional and semi-hydroponics mediums.
We are customer-centric and inclusive, and our goal is to provide rare indoor plant collectors with uniquely beautiful, extremely well cared for home-grown indoor tropical plants of the highest quality.

Our work environment includes:

Duration: Long-term; asking for at least a 6 month commitment as long as things are working out for us. This is NOT a summer-only or holiday-only job.
Days: Monday or Tuesday (order packing days) and one other day of the week. The other day that you work is TBD based on your schedule.
Shift Length: 4 hours per shift, for a total of 8 hours per week of work. There are always opportunities each week to pick up more hours, if more work is desired.
Hours: Shift are 10am-2pm.

Job Description
Are you a houseplant lover or experienced houseplant grower? Do you have an eye for detail and a careful hand?
All the Plant Babies online houseplant shop is looking to hire a Greenhouse Assistant in Oak Park, IL. The Greenhouse Assistant is responsible for maintaining the rare and beautiful houseplants and equipment that keeps the business running as well as helping to pack orders.
To sum it up, in this job you will spend one full day a week packing orders and the other day watering and potting up delicate indoor tropical plants. The priority of THIS role that I'm hiring for will be on packing plant orders, so that is what you will train on first and foremost.

Job duties will include:
On the Monday and/or Tuesday that you work you will pack plant orders. On the other day that you work you will care for plants.
On days caring for plants you will be:
- Watering 300 plants and seedlings each week in the indoor growing rooms and tents
- Repotting plants, planting seeds, transplanting seedlings

Job Requirements:
- Eye for detail and a careful hand. Our delicate and sensitive plants are wrapped meticulously in a beautiful way for each customer.
- Experience growing houseplants and having a solid foundational understanding of growing houseplants. This includes being able to recognize different types of common soil mixes, knowing confidently how to repot various common houseplants (from experience), having at least some experience with houseplant propagation, and being able to distinguish very common houseplants from one another.
- Ability to work efficiently and closely with a partner (owner of company), and eventually by oneself.
- Follows directions closely
- Strong work ethic
- Able to take feedback in stride
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience growing tropical rare plants such as Hoyas, Alocasias and/or Anthuriums.
- Experience growing plants in semi-hydro substrate such as Lechuza pon or LECA is a STRONG advantage. This will be a tremendous part of the role.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Home environment: must be comfortable around 3 young children and not allergic or afraid of dogs (one old Labradoodle).
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend and reach during entire work shift.
- Ability to stand on a 5ft ladder/ large step stool to reach high-up plants
- Ability to work with hands and arms during entire shift.
- Ability to handle fragile plants safely
- Must have excellent vision
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 8 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Day shift
- No nights
- Weekends as needed
