JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our financial operations. This position requires a strong grasp of basic accounting principles, basic understanding of employee benefits, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online / Enterprise is preferable but not required; however, proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send invoices to customers in a timely manner.
- Monitor accounts to ensure timely payment and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Maintain and allocate commission statements to the applicable customer(s).
- Post customer payments and reconcile customer accounts.
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
Accounts Payable:
- Review and process invoices and expense reports for payment.
- Verify that invoices are accurate, properly coded, and in compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and schedule payments for approval and distribution.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable records.
Financial Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, both digital and hard copies.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
- Prepare various financial reports and summaries as needed.
Banking and Reconciliation:
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
- Monitor cash balances and report any discrepancies or irregularities.
- Manage and document all financial transactions related to the bank.
Communication:
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and other departments to address any financial-related inquiries.
- Communicate with vendors and customers regarding payment and invoicing inquiries.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related task.
- Proven experience in a finance or accounting role is desirable but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.
- Proven experience in the employee benefits industry is desirable but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Experience in QuickBooks Online / Enterprise is required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
EDUCATION
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field is required. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
Salary : $45,000 - $65,000
