JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: TEACHER ASSISTANT, REGULAR CLASSROOM
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assist Teacher in classroom
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree equivalent or successful completion of the ParaProfessional Assessment exam.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment, materials, and/or students.
REPORTS TO:
Principal, Classroom Teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/task:
- Carry out instructional activities under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
- May carry out particular routine aspects of the instructional program under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.
- Assist in ensuring adequate supervision for students.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and keep materials, supplies and skills up-to-date.
- Complete state autism training requirements and participate in other professional development activities, as requested.
- Candidate must possess good moral character.
- Promote a positive attitude in daily communications with students and school employees.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 month contract, non-exempted FLSA status; salary will be established annually by the School Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
