What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician -2nd shift position at Allegheny Bradford Corporation?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Independent, proactive, and extremely detail oriented, dependable, organized; must be able to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to work from written and verbal instruction.
Must be able to follow written SOP’s, work instructions, and outside regulatory requirements.
Determines quality and reliability standards by studying drawings and work instructions; verifying specifications with engineering staff.
Identifies in-process product condition by conducting in-process inspections during production process and physical tests.
Determines disposition of finished product by collecting, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting production and quality data; judging product acceptability in comparison to specifications.
Documents finished product status by recording and summarizing materials, in-process, and finished-product inspection and physical test data.
Participates in first article inspections with engineering and production management. Suggests changes to process in order to improve quality of products.
Maintains quality assurance operations by following quality assurance policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Completes Non-conforming material, and scrap test reports. Identify and control nonconforming materials.
Assist with document control, in the review of quality documents.
Assist in other quality control or technical service functions as needed. Audit and ensure calibration of measuring devices, gauges, and test equipment. Review calibration, maintenance, and repair records as instructed.
Maintain and monitor quality control records.
Make notations of any and all areas of concern and potential problems relative to quality processes and customer requirements.
Conduct internal Quality Assurance compliance audits as directed, demonstrating professional and appropriate interpersonal and communication skills. Document and prepare forms, reports, and tracking of audit findings. Assist in the development of corrective and preventive action and conduct follow up audits as required.
Provide shop floor technical support and problem solving, demonstrating a professional and proactive role in corrective action and quality/process improvement. Maintain pertinent records.
Extensive knowledge on use of inspection equipment & tools, including calipers, pin gauges, scales and other testing equipment
Excellent blueprint reading/interpretation skills is required and have ability to read and understand documents such as quality testing procedures and production procedures.
Perform testing analysis and prep-work which includes, surface finish, bore-scoping, and ASME/BPE Code, 3A, PED, MOM requirements and directives.
Proactively address quality issues that can adversely affect quality and provide technical support for all product preparation and shop area
Tools and Technology Skills:
Regular use of desktop computer including Microsoft Office and company operations software, use of scanner, copier, fax, and telephone.
Education and/or Experience Required:
Two-year degree in an accredited related curriculum, or two-year equivalent related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School diploma required. Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and project management, interpersonal and communication skills required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and project a professional image to visitors and customers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and
volume.
Expected Hours of Work:
Second Shift Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM (as assigned). This position will train on First Shift for 6 months working four 10-hour shifts.
Work schedule may have extended hours and/or the requirement to perform weekend work when the need arises. Work schedule may have a temporary, alternative arrangement or shift as requested by supervisor.
