The Behavioral Health (BH) Fellows program offers competitive pay, educational loan repayment of up to $45,000*, and a two-year cohort experience including a retreat, professional and leadership development, and relationship-building experiences. In exchange, Fellows commit to work full time in an eligible role for a minimum of two years with a sponsoring behavioral health service provider in our region.

In the wake of COVID-19, staff vacancies within the behavioral health direct care workforce are high – this creates barriers to critical behavioral health care for some of the most vulnerable in our community. The Allegheny County Department of Human Services in collaboration with Community Care Behavioral Health, Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education, and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation are addressing our region’s workforce needs through the BH Fellows program.
BH Fellows will be eligible to receive:
- Competitive pay
- Educational loan repayment (*up to $25,000 for a bachelor’s degree and up to $45,000 for a master’s degree) OR free access to an approved professional certificate program
- Cohort experience – Fellows are part of a professional learning community with a retreat, in-person and virtual trainings, leadership development, and relationship building experiences throughout the two-year service term
BH Fellows will be hired into key positions in the following behavioral health service areas:
- Blended Service Coordination
- Family-Based Mental Health
- Crisis Services
- Child Diversion and Acute Stabilization
- Case Management for Substance Use Disorder
- Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment
- Community Treatment Team
