Under the direction of the Court Administrator, the part-time Case Manager Assistant is responsible for probation-related activities and ensuring compliance with probation terms. The Case Manager Assistant also conducts client interviews, evaluates progress, addresses issues and complaints, testifies in court, manages client inquiries, composes legal documents, reviews case loads, and compiles monthly statistics for reporting. This position is governed by the rules and guidelines outlined in the Circuit Court Employee Handbook and is considered an at-will employment position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct regular client interviews per probation terms and assessment schedule.
Assess and evaluate clients' progress in meeting probation requirements, addressing deficiencies.
Hold special meetings with clients to address probation-related issues, including disciplinary meetings with supervisors.
Testify in court regarding probation violations and take appropriate legal actions as necessary.
Manage client inquiries and complaints, including arranging transportation and coordinating participation in treatment programs.
Compose legal documents, including Court Petitions for various discharge types, and delegate secretarial tasks when required.
Perform monthly case load reviews, ensuring appropriate client contact, verifying documentation completeness, and addressing issues with the Supervisor when needed.
Compile monthly statistics and prepare reports for submission to the Supervisor.
Performs all other duties as assigned, including overtime as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, or related field of study and three years’ experience in case management or related experience
Ability to obtain Criminal Justice Risk Assessment (IRAS) Instrument Training/Application Certification
Knowledge of all local, state, and federal laws applicable to program operations
Ability to effectively interview, investigate and work with clients
Ability to maintain complete and accurate professional files and prepare department reports and statistics
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of standard policies and practice of Allen Superior and Circuit Court
Knowledge of treatment programs and services available to program participants to offer referrals to program participants
Ability to deal swiftly, rationally, and decisively with potentially violent individuals and precarious situations Strong interviewing skills to investigate, counsel, and work with program participants and their families to complete all the program requirements
Strong supervisory skills to provide intensive case management services and ensure completion of program requirements
REQUIREMENTS (Continued):
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all department records and information
Knowledge of evidence collection and preservation techniques to conduct urine drug screenings
Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job-related software
Ability to work at either ACCC location
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The Case Manager Assistant maintains frequent communication with other County employees, program participants, officials from various governmental and social service agencies, and members of the public regarding the coordination of reentry of serious and violent felony program participants.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Case Manager Assistant works in and out of an office setting with frequent contact with potentially dangerous, violent, and abusive program participants convicted of various misdemeanor and felony offenses. There is some standing and walking with frequent sitting. Some lifting of up to 40 pounds, bending, reaching overhead, and kneeling is required. Frequent mental/visual effort, attention to detail, detailed inspection, and typing are to be expected.
