Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and directing the activities of the company’s risk management and safety programs. In addition, the Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the identification, evaluation of risk and selection of methods to handle all risk exposure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Allen Harim’s vision, mission and values
- Works closely with management and staff on implementing new programs, upgrading existing programs and formulating recommendations to senior management on safety and risk policies.
- Assures an effective accident prevention program is maintained and that appropriate measures are taken to comply with Allen Harim, OSHA, State and related safety regulations, policies and directives
- Interprets laws and policies and establishes policies and procedures for staff engaged in insurance, claims and safety activities and analyzes changes in state and federal legislation as they apply to areas of insurance and safety; ensures that all risk management and safety programs are in compliance.
- Perform investigations involving personal injury, property damage, theft or violation of state or federal regulations on company property or in company vehicles
- Monitors incidents to determine trends and corrective actions.
- Maintains OSHA standards and logs.
- Be actively involved in the site's Workers' Compensation program by attending regularly scheduled meetings, providing supporting documentation for claims in litigation etc.
- Keep the management team informed of any safety and health related issues and/or concerns identified within your respective scope of responsibility.
- Oversee company medical department including management of emergency medical technician staff (EMT’s) and assuring all medical staff is adhearing to proper protocol.

Education and/or Experience
- B.S. degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences and 10 plus years of experience managing a comprehensive safety
Knowledge/Skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills - Advanced
- Must possess strong problem resolution skills. - Advanced
- Time management skills – Advanced
- Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with all level of employees
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Bilingual a plus

This position requires an individual to be able to sit, stand, bend and walk. The candidate will need to be able to access all area of the plant and will need to be able to handle extreme temperatures, cold and hot.
