Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Present a professional and friendly attitude while on duty
- Direct and assist passenger movement on and about the vessel in ocean swell
- Participate in a passenger safety orientation and maintain safe conditions underway, assist crew/passengers in emergencies
- Operate a galley, bar, and commissary, including preparation & distribution of snacks, drinks, sales, stocking, inventory order lists, and related paperwork
- Routine maintenance includes but is not limited to cleaning, sanitation, restocking consumables in the cabin area and heads, making note of needed equipment repairs
- Enhance the cruise experience for passengers, including answering questions and helping passengers with specific problems/requests
- Communicate with up to 150 passengers on a PA system
- Work as a team with other employees to present coordinated narration and provide a quality experience for customers
- Assist other crew members in maintaining vessel appearance, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety
- Special projects may be assigned as required by the business.
- Must be able to operate a cash register efficiently as well as keep money records and maintain a professional, friendly attitude toward customers
- Must be clean, well-groomed, courteous, honest, and most important, reliable
- Always present a professional and friendly attitude to guests and crew
- Must be comfortable walking about the vessel and working in ocean swell
- Valid US driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test
- Certifications required before the first day of employment include:
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Alaska Food Handler card
- TAPS certification to serve alcohol (Employees 21 must obtain)
- Previous retail/bartending experience preferred
- Previous experience on passenger-carrying vessels
- Customer service experience preferred

- Must be physically able to work a typical workday of about 10-14 hours per day, 5-7 days a week
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on steel decks with constant vibration and moderate levels of noise.
- Required to enter voids/engine rooms as needed, ability to comfortably fit through a 28-inch void hatch
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk on uneven deck surfaces crossing from vessel to vessel
- Ability to walk about and work efficiently in ocean swells
