Allensworth, a busy and growing construction law firm with a complex water infrastructure practice seeking a full-time Lead Water Attorney.
Summary of Responsibilities
The lead attorney is responsible for managing a docket of water-related matters. The work may involve surface water rights and water quality permitting, permitting relating to the production and use of groundwater, water- and sewer-service CCN matters and territorial disputes, and strategic water development planning. The docket also includes transactional matters involving negotiating and drafting water supply agreements and water rights purchase and sale agreements.
Working closely with the attorney-in-charge of each case, the lead attorney is accountable for communicating with clients, and managing the execution of legal strategy, including delegating assignments to supporting associates and paralegals. Strong academic credentials, research, writing, and communication skills, ability to work well with others in a team environment, and high-motor work ethic are essential.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both internally and client-facing
- Strong leadership and case management skills with a proven ability to manage matters, craft strategy proactively, and implement resources in all phases of disputes
- Comfortable working both autonomously and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a variety of constituencies, including clients, partners, associates, legal assistants, and administrative staff
- Attention to detail and polished, professional, and friendly demeanor
- Willingness to serve in first-chair capacity on client interaction, motion practice, hearings, presentations, and coordination of case-level strategy for cases
- Experienced in Texas administrative practice and procedure—particularly with TCEQ, State Office of Administrative Hearings, and PUC procedures
- Highly motivated, capable, and eager to become an indispensable part of the team and solve problems—both for clients and for the firm
