Job Purpose:
The Co-Responder is embedded with a local law enforcement agency and will respond with law enforcement to calls for service with behavioral health or substance use concerns. The Co-Responder helps with de-escalation, helping individuals with resources, and navigating treatment systems. Co-Responders also help with case management after calls for service for coordination of care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Administer standardized screening tools to identify clients with behavioral health and/or substance abuse problems
• Provide linkage to case management services and/or community-based resources as needed
• Must work effectively as a part of an interdisciplinary team, including law enforcement personnel, to de-escalate and efficiently meet the needs of clients.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in EHR according to established protocols.
• Coordinate services with other departments within AllHealth Network and outside agencies.
• Interface with law enforcement agencies to provide education about the Co-Responder Program, about behavioral health and substance abuse, and services available in the community.
• Follow up on all referrals sent by law enforcement agencies as outlined in the procedures.
• Follow all safety procedures as directed by law enforcement.
• Conduct brief behavioral health and substance abuse assessments in the field.
• Travel to dangerous and/or uncertain crisis situations as needed.
• Calling individuals without prior contact to assess for needs, provide resources, and engage them in treatment services.
• Follow all AllHealth Network policies and procedures
• Complete all required trainings as listed in Relias Learning (both online training and face-to-face training) within required timelines
• Perform other duties as required within the scope of the position and the experience, education and ability of the employee.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review client caseload, treatment, concerns, and recommendations
• Positively contribute to the financial health of the organization by ensuring delivery of billable services and utilizing, monitoring, and collecting data for decision making and program improvements
• Maintain positive, ethical, and professional working relationships with community, government agencies, and other professionals
• Participate and contribute to team meetings, clinical supervision and other meetings, as needed, to ensure cohesive department operations
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in specialized training
• Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly and within established timelines
Key Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Experience:
• Must have experience working in crisis situations.
• Experience working in or with the Criminal Justice System.
• Licensure is required (LPC, LMFT, LCSW).
• Ability to operate PC-based software programs including proficiency in Word, Excel and other computer based systems.
• Possess advanced written and oral communication, decision making and problem solving skills, and efficient time management. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team; collaborating with other internal and external teams.
• Must possess own transportation, have a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
