Job Description
B&A Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinarians in their daily operations.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and care for hospitalized animals, ensuring their comfort and well-being
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, medication administration, and post-treatment procedures
- Prepare and sterilize surgical equipment and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Assist with radiography and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Perform routine nursing care, including taking vital signs and collecting samples
- Communicate effectively with the veterinary team and pet owners about patient status and care instructions
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures, including blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Experience with various medical equipment used in veterinary practice
- Excellent animal handling skills and ability to work with diverse species
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate approach to animal care and client interactions
- Physical ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting is preferred
- Basic computer skills for entering patient data and using practice management software
