The Payroll & Benefits Associate will play a crucial role in processing bi-weekly payrolls for our diverse workforce, including salaried, hourly, full-time, and part-time employees. You will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with legal and company standards. In addition, you will assist with benefits administration, including health insurance, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans.
HOURS: This is a full-time, hourly position (40 hours/week). Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Key Responsibilities
- Process multiple bi-weekly payrolls for both Canada and/or U.S. employees.
- Handle employment changes, garnishments, insurance, and voluntary deductions.
- Calculate and issue manual payroll checks as needed.
- Process and record paid and unpaid time off requests.
- Monitor and verify timecards for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with departmental supervisors to resolve timecard issues.
- Conduct payroll audits and reviews each pay period before processing.
- Create and input payroll journal entries into accounting software.
- Generate and compile internal management reports from payroll systems.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and company policies.
- Assist with the management of benefit enrollments and related inquiries.
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Participate in other payroll and benefits projects as assigned
- Strong understanding of current payroll concepts and employment regulations.
- Excellent analytical and auditing skills.
- Proficiency with Office Suite products and payroll systems/software.
- Effective communicator with well-developed organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong prioritization skills to meet payroll deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Skilled in 10-key data entry.
- Experience with multi-state or provincial payrolls preferred.
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is a plus but not required.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) in a related field preferred, or over three years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Primarily local travel during the business day, with some out-of-the-area and overnight travel as needed to support business locations.
