What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Support Specialist position at Alliance for Community Transformations?
The Youth Support Specialist uses their lived experiences to support others through services provided at the Family Resource Center (FRC). The FRC will offer parent education, peer support groups, and family engagement activities. The Youth Support Specialist will be required to travel to North County every month.

This position will be expected to work Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30AM-7:00PM.
Essential Duties
· Work closely with and direct the young people and families in need of support, resources, and direct services.
· Provide strengths-based case management to participant.
· Prepare and coordinate family engagement activities such as crafts and meals.
· Facilitate engagement activities/peer support groups in North County once a month.
· Facilitate and coordinate Grief, LGBTQ , Natural Disaster support groups, and others as needed (training will be provided)
· Facilitate Parenting Education classes.
· Coordinate Teen Parent Birth Education classes.
· Work with others on planning and collaborations.
· Working with the Program Director, maintain relationships with community partners.
· Respond to community needs.
· Participate in Outreach events.
· Seek out and participate in ongoing training opportunities to best serve the community.
· Other program duties assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
· Maintains communication with vendors, contractors, and community partners on behalf of the program.
· Maintains forms and documents related to the functioning of the office and transportation program (including incident reports)
· Create and update program forms, prepare and store information in digital and hard copy form.
· Create publicity and marketing material.
· Complete data-entry of service logs.
· Keep track and manage services rendered.
· Assist with monthly reports for grants.
· Participant enrollment and scheduling.
· Drop-in Center support.
· Helps maintain office cleanliness and beautification, maintains office supply inventory and lets PD know ordering needs.
· Support day to day office operations including reception, record keeping, and general maintenance.
· Stays up to date on activities and events available at FRC and at other organizations.
· Attend program and agency staff meetings when requested by Director.
· Other programs duties assigned.
Volunteer Support
· Coach volunteers on efforts to support the FRC's group facilitation.
· Coordinate volunteer group assignments.
· Ensure that volunteer hours are documented and tracked.
· Other volunteer support duties assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education/Experience:
· High School Diploma/GED; college preferred.
· Lived experiences related to the job duties listed above are desired
· Must Obtain Mental Health First Aid - training will be provided
· Must Obtain CPR First Aid - training will be provided
· Must Obtain Group Facilitation - training will be provided
· Must obtain Grief Education - training provided
· Must obtain Mandated Reported training upon hire - training provided
Knowledge of:
· Office Equipment Operation, including computers, phone, fax, copier, etc.
· Computer and Software programs (Word; Excel; Internet)
· Outreach marketing (experience using social media)
· Trauma-Informed Care.
· Current social, economic and health problems and of human behavior and social functioning.
Ability to:

Physical Requirements:
· Facility to see read and distinguish printed and handwritten documents.
· Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
· Facility to constantly use hands and arms to input data into computer and use adding machine.
· Ability to move boxes of files from one location to another; physical agility to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, and to bend, stoop, walk and reach overhead.
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time.
· Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, timely fashion: to make good judgments and decisions; and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments.
Other Requirements:
· Must complete finger printing and background check upon hire, at Alliance expense. Failure to pass fingerprint clearance or background may result in withdrawal of job appointment.
· Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and DMV clearance.
· Must have and maintain active auto insurance policy.
