Settlements Analyst - Bilateral (I, II, or Senior; Depending on Level of Experience)

General Summary:
This position will be responsible for providing Bilateral Settlement Services (Power & Gas) for the Company’s members and clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Traditional Market Settlement:
- Follows Settlements’ procedures and processes to validate the settlement of third-party power and renewable purchases and sales, which includes volumetric and pricing verification. Identifies settlement discrepancies and works with third-party, middle and front office personnel to resolve these discrepancies.
- Preparation and verification of ACES’ members’ and customers’ accounts receivable and accounts payable energy invoices
- Responsible for the settlement verification and process of Renewable Energy transactions
- Provides reporting to ACES’ members and customers related to the traditional market energy transactions that have been verified. This function includes developing, creating and processing reports required by ACES’ members and customers related to the transactions that have been verified on their behalf
- Responsible for analysis/verification of monthly imbalance invoices
- When applicable performs trending analysis
Gas Settlement:
- Follows Settlements’ procedures and processes to validate the settlement of third-party natural gas transactions, which includes volumetric and pricing verification. Identifies settlement discrepancies and works with third-party, middle and front office personnel to resolve these discrepancies.
- Preparation and verification of ACES’ members’ and customers’ natural gas invoices
- Verifies/reconciles monthly transportation and storage statements
- Provides required settlement reporting to ACES’ members/customers
- When applicable performs trending analysis
Regulatory Settlement:
- Follows Settlements’ procedures and processes to compile internal data and coordinate with ACES’ members and customers the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to regulatory agencies
- Provides required regulatory reporting to ACES’ members/customers
- Files required regulatory reporting on behalf of ACES’ members/customers
General Responsibilities:
- Assists with the system development, product upgrades and implementation(s) and on-going maintenance of risk management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external organizations to answer questions and resolve issues
- Reviews and provides suggestions for improvements to procedures and software to improve accuracy, efficiency and timeliness
- Reviews and provides suggestions to refines workflow and business processes to meet the goals to improve/enhance the settlement process
- Notifies appropriate staff/team members of key issues
- Creates/maintains documentation related to specific job functions/responsibilities
- Responds to various information requests from auditors and other groups
- Ability to travel
- Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
- 4 years of experience in energy industry
- Experience in the energy industry’s financial and accounting procedures and requirements.
- Experience in the accounting and billing of energy and gas transactions, including transactions involving multiple control areas, transmission service, capacity, and renewable.
- Knowledge of standard energy billing contact terms.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint along with accounting and settlement/risk systems.
- Knowledge of automated accounting and risk management systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
