We are seeking full time Certified Peer Support Specialists to join our team and help fulfill our mission of empathetically providing care, that is guided by being an ally in supporting people in their healthcare needs. The Alliance Health Care mental health program provides services across the metro, but localizes the area in which services are provided.
Regions include: Hennepin/Ramsey/Dakota counties.
The Certified Peer Specialist, or CPS, is an individual who:
- Has a lived experience of mental illness and is trained to provide direct mental health services.
- Offers support and hope to individuals who have experienced mental illness by sharing their story and helping them to discover their strengths.
- Assists in reducing barriers to community resources, and provides encouragement for involvement in community activities that support goals and interests.
- Uses a non-clinical approach to help recipients discover their strengths and develop their own unique recovery goals.
- Models wellness, personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness through appropriate sharing of his or her story.
- Coordinates care with the recipients Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (ARMHS) worker.
QUALIFICATIONS
Level I Peer Specialists must meet the following criteria:
- Successfully completes the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam
Level II Peer Specialists must meet all requirements of a Level I CPS and the following criteria:
- Is qualified as a mental health practitioner per DHS requirements
All candidates must also:
- Have valid driver’s license
- Possess valid auto insurance
- Have a reliable vehicle
- Be willing to travel around the metro area
- Be fully vaccinated (or be willing to vaccinate) for COVID-19, OR request an exemption (religious or medical).
- Be adaptable to a variety of environments and settings in the community.
- Have the ability to assess physical and emotional needs and be able to respond appropriately.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive ongoing education and training of at least 30 hours every two years in the areas of mental illness and recipient mental health services.
- Provide written documentation of all recipient visits via peer support progress notes that are completed weekly.
- Carry a caseload of recipients that is consistent with the goals outlined by the Treatment Director and meet with recipients weekly or bi-weekly, unless otherwise specified.
- Attend weekly meetings with Treatment Director to review recipient services and documentation.
- Attend bi-weekly group supervision meetings and review recipient cases as needed.
- Effectively communicate with both the recipient and other involved parties/providers.
- Ensure all ethical services are being practiced and model wellness for recipients.
- Meeting with the ARMHS practitioner assigned to the recipient monthly to ensure coordination of care.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
