We offer outpatient, intensive outpatient, home-based, and community-based programs, including a continuum of crisis services to over 22,000 residents of Shelby County and the surrounding areas. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Required Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have one (1) year of lived experience of a mental illness, substance use disorder, or co-occurring disorder; Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Certification (CPRS) preferred or obtained within first year.
  • Valid Driver License required; Driver's License with Passenger (P) endorsement preferred.
  • Experience working with mental health consumers or within a hospital setting preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To participate in the development of consumer recovery activities.
  • Obtain training in peer counseling techniques and to provide peer counseling to clients assigned.
  • Obtain other trainings in recovery-focused programs, such as WRAP or Bridges, required for certification as a Peer Specialist.
  • Provide peer counseling and support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis both face-to-face and on the telephone to help reduce their level of distress.
  • Provide linkage and referral to peer-run Peer Support Centers and other community support groups to clients on caseload.
  • Achieve agency standard productivity goals by providing a designated number of monthly contacts as a high-quality service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
