Position description
Alliance Imaging is seeking an Imaging Scheduling Specialist to work as a vital member of the imaging team providing outpatient scheduling and front desk support to our community. We are seeking a candidate who has previous experience in medical imaging scheduling or imaging department support. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 9am-5:30pm.
Qualifications
Preferred experience in medical or imaging scheduling, medical front office or medical reception. Organized, efficient and multifunctional. Ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates effective communication.
Essential Functions
· Answer phones, schedule exams, and educate patients and referring clinics on exam procedures and instructions.
· Obtain and update patient demographics.
· Obtain and maintain medical records in document management.
· Obtain orders for exams that are scheduled.
· Work with radiologists, clinic staff, referring clinics and patients on scheduling issues.
· Pre-register and confirm patient appointments.
· Verifies insurance for patients.
· Uses knowledge of insurance carriers (example Medicare) and procedures that require
waivers to obtain authorization if needed prior to appointment.
· Arranges interpreter services as needed.
· Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms.
· Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
· Greet and check in patients, collect upfront payments, obtain required paperwork and questionnaires from patients.
· Assist team members with facilitating patient flow, which may include helping to move patients in and out of imaging equipment.
· Opens and closes clinic as per company guidelines.
· Attends meetings as required.
· Responsible and accountable for protecting the privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI) pertaining to patients and employees.
· Performs other related duties as identified.
License or certification
High School or GED required
BLS certified preferred
Background or education in medical terminology, medical imaging
Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Required to assist all patients throughout their exam. Strenuous physical effort may be required while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Work requires unrestricted walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling. Must be able to read and understand patient orders and technical materials. Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment. Intact sense of sight and hearing for distances of up to 20 feet is necessary.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
