Position Overview
The Director of Engineering leads the Engineering Division, overseeing projects and services to ensure profitability, quality, and client satisfaction. This role emphasizes leadership, strategic planning, and operational excellence while fostering growth and innovation within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
Coordinate efforts across Practice Leads and Project Managers to meet client expectations and project goals.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and teamwork across technical teams.
Operational Excellence
Prioritize and schedule division workloads to meet deadlines and maintain quality.
Monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure projects align with client needs and company objectives.
Evaluate and implement tools, systems, and processes to optimize productivity and efficiency.
Client & Business Development
Maintain high client satisfaction through exceptional project management and delivery.
Actively participate in business development activities, including client presentations, proposal preparation, and fee development.
Build and sustain relationships with government and private agencies to enhance the company's reputation and opportunities.
Strategic Planning
Oversee budgeting, billing, and forecasting for the division, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
Anticipate staffing needs and make strategic adjustments to resources as required.
Encourage Practice Leads to stay updated on the latest industry trends and "state-of-the-art" engineering practices.
Risk Management
Develop procedures to minimize liability exposure while ensuring equitable contracting practices.
Provide technical expertise and guidance as needed to mitigate project risks and challenges.
Required Qualifications
P.E. License (Professional Engineer)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Advanced technical competency in engineering disciplines relevant to the company's services.
Preferred Qualifications
10-15 years of professional engineering experience.
Master's or Ph.D. in a technical transportation-related discipline is highly desirable.
