Job Title: Data Center Engineer
Location: Needham, MA
Job Type: (Full-time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the data center, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, storage, and network equipment.
- Ensure the uptime, performance, and availability of critical systems, including backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain physical and virtualized servers, storage solutions, and network infrastructure.
- Perform regular system audits and reviews to ensure compliance with industry best practices and internal security standards.
- Collaborate with network, systems, and security teams to ensure the integration and optimization of data center components.
- Handle data center capacity planning and ensure scalability as business requirements evolve.
- Troubleshoot hardware and network failures and perform on-site repairs when necessary.
- Manage and oversee the installation and decommissioning of hardware equipment within the data center.
- Implement and manage data center automation tools to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Ensure the proper configuration of power, cooling, and physical security systems within the data center.
- Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience working in data center operations, IT infrastructure, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and power/cooling solutions.
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Proficiency in networking protocols and equipment (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
- Solid understanding of backup systems, disaster recovery procedures, and high availability technologies.
- Hands-on experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, etc.) and enterprise-level software.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of data center best practices, including compliance, security standards, and energy efficiency practices.
- Familiarity with data center management tools and automation frameworks (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., CompTIA Server , Cisco CCNA, VMware VCP, etc.).
- Experience with cloud services and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Experience with data center monitoring and management platforms.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
