Job Description: Coordinator of Volunteers

Position Summary:
The volunteer coordinator will be responsible to recruit, maintain relationships and provide ongoing support/training to the volunteers of PBMR. The position is primarily focused on volunteer restorative justice practitioners in Cook County Jail, Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center and Department of Juvenile Justice.
Essential Functions:
- Work to identify appropriate partners/volunteers to work in the area of Restorative Justice particularly in Cook County Jail (CCJ), Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (CCJTDC), Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), etc.
- Ensure a presence in the various institutions where volunteers serve and facilitate a healthy relationship with institutions and institutional personnel (program staff, correctional staff, etc).
- Manage the orientation for the volunteers and partner organizations to ensure fidelity to RJ and the volunteer setting(s).
- Oversee the trainings/support of the volunteers/staff, including regular debriefing gatherings (individual and group).
- Plan and manage outreach activities to increase awareness of volunteer possibilities.
- Coordinate all activities with PBMR staff/leadership to better deliver needed services.
- Manage budget of the volunteer coordinator.
- Maintain proper data collection in PBMR database.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding and experience in restorative justice.
- Self-starter that is passionate about supporting individuals who are disconnected and under-supported.
- Strong management and communication skills in both group and individual settings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for maximal team building
- Willingness to take direction and receive feedback.
- Creativity.
- Capacity to manage administrative functions of program.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Schedule/Travel: At times, this position requires working evenings, weekends, and travel (occasional overnight).
