Alliant is looking for experienced Data Analysts to join its Data Analytics and Engineering team. The Data Analyst will be responsible for data processing, data analysis and data engineering. The ideal candidate will have programming experience (in any language), as well as an aptitude and appetite to learn SAS. Qualified candidates will have experience in large-scale databases, data processing, quality control, and ETL and will have well-developed and highly organized work habits. This position reports to the Director of Data Analytics and Engineering.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Extract, transform and load incoming disparate datasets from a variety of sources
- Provide summaries of data assets for internal and external clients
- Import, examine, and clean client data for model development and analysis using SAS
- Execute existing and develop new programs to generate model development samples to meet the business requirements of direct and digital marketers
- Conduct thorough quality assurance for files ensuring reliability and accuracy
- Diagnose and solve problems with data, layouts, and dictionaries
- Understand Alliant's statistical models as they relate to the company's production scoring system
- Maintain and update model production schedule to assure adequate and precise timing of samples to Data Scientists
- Work with team members to prioritize tasks and ensure that assigned projects are completed on schedule
Qualifications and Skills:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Math, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline preferred
- Must have an aptitude for programming and analysis. SAS experience is preferred.
- 5 years of experience with data cleaning and manipulation preferred
- Demonstrated ability to identify data quality issues and recommend the best course of action to address them
- Must be familiar with MS Excel and have well developed and organized work habits
- Must have strong quantitative skills and extensive attention to detail with the ability to investigate raw data
- Ability to clean, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to derive actionable insights.
- Must be flexible, adaptive, inquisitive and possess a keen understanding of technology
- Must be self-motivated with ability to multi-task and resolve issues independently
- Strong oral and written communication skills and convey complex data in a simple, actionable way
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. This isn't just about data-it's about delivering insights to our clients.
- Experience in data preparation for direct or digital marketing, or related coursework, is a plus
After gaining hands-on experience in this role, typically within two years, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to specialize in either the Data Science/Predictive Modeling track or the Programmer/Analyst track.
