Overview
The Senior Data Governance Manager is responsible for leading, developing and implementing enterprise data governance efforts. The Senior Data Governance Manager, will be responsible for partnering with Legal, IT, Data Office, InfoSec, Product, HR, and others to develop and implement a bespoke data governance program, as well as executing on developing data governance standards, policies, and processes to help scale a growing business. The candidate will enhance and update current data governance processes and standards, establish new data governance processes and standards, understand the company and company needs, build a prioritized roadmap, execute on that roadmap, and evolve the team and roadmap as the company evolves. The ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and bring a solutions-oriented approach to all problems they encounter.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Display comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices for data governance.
- Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Lead cross-functional teams to define, develop, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and IT teams to establish and maintain data definitions, data standards, metadata management, and data quality.
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Oversee the data lifecycle management, including data classification, data retention, and data disposal processes.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations.
- Manage data dictionary processes and data mapping
- Provide training and awareness to stakeholders on data governance best practices and policies to foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
- Stay current with emerging data governance trends, tools, and technologies, recommending enhancements to existing processes and frameworks.
- Drive the adoption of data governance initiatives across the organization, ensuring data assets are managed effectively and efficiently.
- Create and maintain a structure to track adherence to contractual and regulatory data privacy compliance.
- Develop a data governance roadmap that aligns with company goals and evolving needs.
- Act as an evangelist for data quality and Data governance, raising awareness and improving data culture across the organization.
- Serve as member of Infosec team on data privacy
- Promote a culture of data governance within the organization
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Law, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
- Proficiency in data governance tools and technologies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements related to data governance and data privacy (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, other State privacy laws, FCRA).
- Familiarity with digital advertising and direct mail.
- Professional certifications in data governance or data management are a plus.
