This role is part of the Financial Crimes Unit at Allianz Life, focused on the Anti-Fraud Program and fraud investigations. The candidate will join the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) as an experienced and highly skilled fraud investigator, reporting directly to the Fraud & SIU Manager. The candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations related to internal and external fraud, including insurance fraud, agent fraud, and elder financial abuse. This role identifies, investigates, and reports suspected fraud or abuse against the Company and/or its customers, handling investigations involving highest complexity and risk. It supports internal business partners and presents anti-fraud training as needed and maintains technical competence through continuing education and training. Supports external network initiatives with industry peers and law enforcement. Participates in other projects as assigned.

Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.

What you do:
- Conduct comprehensive investigations into any allegations of fraud or abuse against the Company and/or its customers.
- Handle complex investigations which represent financial or reputational risk to the organization. Prepare and submit detailed reports on investigative findings, including root cause analysis and recommendations for further action.
- Maintain SIU compliance with state reporting regulations and report investigation findings as required. Work with law enforcement and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Support business partners and Enterprise Operations in efforts to determine fraud referral guidelines.
- Support the development of content for anti-fraud targeted training to internal and external business partners across the company and the industry.
- Establish relationships with industry networks, peers, regulatory, and law enforcement agencies to identify new schemes and detection needs.
- Regularly collaborate with other investigators on the SIU Team.
- Collaborate with and support other areas in the Financial Crimes Unit – AML, Agent Oversight, Complaints.
- Gain and maintain technical competence through continuing education and training.
- Emerging Technologies
- At least 8 years of experience conducting criminal or SIU investigations.
- Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification (or equivalent) required and in good standing or willing to obtain within one year.
- Drive change and innovation.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Strong investigative skills and techniques, including resolving complex fraud cases, and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Ability to identify control and fraud risks and support risk mitigation efforts.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance fraud and cyber-enabled schemes, agent fraud, investment fraud, and elder financial abuse.
- Strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations, including knowledge of reporting requirements to state regulators.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency with fraud detection software and other investigative tools.
- High ethical standards and proven integrity when dealing with sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for investigations and attend relevant industry conferences/seminars.
