JOB SUMMARY
Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data and other input from other departments such as Manufacturing, Programming and Engineering. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. This position is subject to ITAR requirements which require incumbents to be a U.S. Person (Citizen, lawful permanent resident, a protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3))
PRIMARY DUTIES
Include the following but other duties may be assigned. *
Reviews quotes and breaks down necessary elements for creating a full estimate of costs for the project.
Reviews prior quotes for same/similar projects as needed to ensure the most accurate quote possible.
Estimates costs for materials and outside processing, utilizing approved suppliers.
Estimates labor and machine/processing hours.
Working with Engineering, Programming and Inspection, develops rough costs for these areas.
Provides initial full quote to management for review. Participates in Estimating Meetings to finalize costs.
Writes up final quote for review and approval
Provides rough planning and/or layout of quoted hours.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports unsafe conditions to manager.
Assures that his/her area is safe and cleaned at all times.
Participates in all safety and wellness activities as required.
Participates in any extra curriculum activity deemed necessary by management.
Assist other department and/or areas as requested by management or supervisor.
Follows all company policies and safety guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not oversee personnel.
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
5 years of experience in estimating/ project/ program management in a job shop environment. CNC machining experience may be considered in lieu of.
Computer proficiency in MS Office including, but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Experience in MRP systems.
Strong knowledge of labor rates, material costs and CNC machine utilization
Ability to read and interpret information from blueprints and technical documents, RFQ’s, and other external/internal documentation in hard copy or electronic formats
Strong organizational and project management skills
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet deadlines
EDUCATION
Minimum of a High School Diploma/ GED or a combination of work experience and education will be considered.
AA/BS or relevant certificate in engineering, project or contract management preferred.

Ability to go up/ down stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 90% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 10% of the time in the manufacturing plant. When working in the manufacturing areas it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) slip resistant shoes, safety glasses.
