POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician
PAY GRADE: Non-Exempt / Grade 8
BUSINESS UNIT: Residential Business Unit
REPORTS TO: Supervisor-Maintenance

PURPOSE: An effective Maintenance Technician holds safety as a value. Demonstrates safe work practices in all they do and has no hesitation notifying anyone of an unsafe situation. Can work as a cohesive team and has the skill to identify problems and recommend improvements to provide quality, on time products to our customers. Maintenance Technician should have a passion for understanding how things work and have sharp senses that help you locate minor faults quickly. An analytical person, methodical thinker, who can manage his/her time to achieve department goals. Ability to maintain, repair, install, and improve our industrial equipment.
1.0 DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all company safety guidelines, practices, and procedures. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment when required.
- Ability to maintain machinery requiring hydraulic, electrical, and/or mechanical troubleshooting and repair in an industrial setting to maintain production requirements.
- Performs prescribed work in a safe and efficient manner and complies with applicable codes and practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot automation technology, make minor adjustments, reset minor robot issues using teach pendant, and assist in root cause analysis with team.
- Maintains a strong presence on the shop floor and in related process areas to perform breakdown maintenance and to ensure that production machinery and support systems are operating at optimal levels of performance.
- Make suggestions for machinery and process improvements or modifications.
- Ability to do light fabrication, MIG weld, and use torch.
- Safely operate mobile equipment, cranes, power tools, hoists, and hand tools.
- Ability to dismantle machinery and remove/replace defective parts.
- Control downtime by communicating with your supervisor recommending contingency measures.
- Provide on-the-job training to maintenance trainee, new hires, and assist with new technology in the department when needed.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Always maintain cleanliness of equipment and workstation areas.
- Targeted reduction in waste of all forms (time, materials, labor).
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, group leads and business unit managers.
- Creating and continually improving upon a culture of teamwork, accountability, and trust by modeling expectations and providing positive feedback to drive desired behaviors.
- Documenting and submitting workorder creation and workorder completion as required.
- Gaining knowledge and keeping up to date on safety and quality regulatory notices.
- Responsible for maintaining regular and reliable attendance and punctuality per company policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties, as assigned.
2.0 REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES

- Complete Fanuc, Allen Bradley Controller and Milacron Training/Certificate.
3.0 EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three years’ experience or combination of education and experience, preferably working with industrial machinery.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting machines.
- Knowledge of mechanics, electrical circuits, hydraulics, pneumatic, PLC and robots.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Maintenance degree, certificate, or technical training a plus.
- Capable of growing in knowledge and demonstrating competency in your job.
4.0 MENTAL/VISUAL REQUIREMENT:
- Concentrated diligence in performing maintenance related tasks associated with current and new machinery.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Initiative-taking with ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work without close supervision.
- Ability to generate reporting documents and participate in team meetings.
- Good general ability with use of computer touch screens and written documents.
- Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
5.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Required to perform repetitive tasks.

6.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently works near moving parts. The associate may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Due to the open environment of the building, must be able to work in various temperatures. Involves moderate or occasional presence of unfavorable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, noise, odor, chemicals, etc. Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, heat protective sleeves, and safety shoes may be required in the area that you are working in based on our safety PPE standards.
