POSITION PURPOSE
Under direct supervision, the Accounting Supervisor will assist with all functions under the responsibility of the accounting team, with primary focus on month-end processes and procedures, including review of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, analysis of divisional G&A, balance sheet and other variance reports, and review of monthly accounting close schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
General :
- Provide assistance, guidance, oversight and training to staff and senior-level accountants.
- Initiate process improvements in the general accounting area to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Maintain a service-oriented environment through collaboration and cooperation with all levels of employees, management, and external parties.
General Accounting :
Supervise the monthly accounting close process including ownership and follow-up on the monthly / quarterly close schedule. Ensure deadlines are met by the team.Review and reconcile payroll transactions within the general ledger.Review and approve general ledger journal entries for accuracy and appropriateness.Review monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.Review month-end reports such as departmental G&A and balance sheet variance analysis and comprehensive income roll forward schedules, and foreign currency fluctuation and transaction analyses.Review the allocation of expenses across multiple locations.Review of purchasing card transactions and coordinate overall process with Treasury and HR.Understand intercompany transactions and respective eliminations as it impacts consolidation of the financial statements in ERP system.Collaboration with Accounts Payable to ensure proper general ledger coding.Assist with internal and external audits.Assist in the effective function, monitoring and documentation of internal control processes and procedures.Research and resolve accounting issues.Special Projects :

Analyzes data and prepares financial documents and reports for internal and external purposes, consistent with a broad understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the unit. Reports are free from error.Demonstrates a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP), and a good understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology and applied bases of accounting.Provides for a sound system of assurances on financial and accounting operations. Complies with operational policies and procedures.Ensures all business transactions are reasonable, appropriate, and necessary.QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION : A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting is required from an accredited college, university, or institution. CPA or other relevant professional certification / designation is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE : Accomplished understanding of and the ability to apply and research US GAAP and familiarity with SEC rules, as applicable, and Sarbanes Oxley.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : 3 to 6 years relevant and direct experience in month-end close, consolidations, and general ledger accounting including financial statement analysis.
SKILLS / ABILITIES :
Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as proven organizational skills.Previous experience with Epicor P21 system is preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications particularly advanced Excel skills.Ability to work independently with limited supervision and capable of putting decisions into actions, with the initiative to push them forward to completion.Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and stay organized to meet deadlines and facilitate manager review of work in a team-oriented environment.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster an atmosphere in which people work together enthusiastically and effectively in producing superior results.Must be willing to encourage and promote shared ownership and accountability for team deadlines, vision and goals.LI-HP1
