Project Controls Specialist (Cost-Focused) – Immediate Opening
Overview: We are currently hiring for two Project Controls Specialist roles, one for each of two teams. The position on Team A is more urgent due to a recent vacancy and needs to be backfilled ASAP. Both roles require skilled professionals in project controls with an emphasis on cost analysis and financial tracking, not scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
• Focus primarily on project cost management, including budget tracking, cost variance analysis, and cost forecasting.
• Perform deep analytical reviews of project financials, with the ability to explain and justify cost data from multiple perspectives.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand the financial impact of project decisions.
• Work within established project controls tools and processes to provide consistent, detailed, and timely reporting.
• Support monthly in-person "anchor week" (second full week of each month) onsite in Chattanooga, TN.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience in project controls, with strong cost-focused skills (not accounting or scheduling).
• Ability to critically analyze data, understand what drives cost variances, and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking; comfortable explaining how numbers are derived from multiple angles.
• Prior experience in utilities, nuclear, or construction industries is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, Maximo, C55, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work across departments and with executives.
Experience Requirements:
• 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Candidates must have some hands-on experience in project cost controls; recent graduates without real-world application will not be considered.
• Strong candidates with 2 years who demonstrate initiative and expertise will be considered.
Work Location & Travel Expectations:
• Ideal candidates are local to Chattanooga, TN or willing to travel regularly.
• Work schedule is a 4x10 (Mon–Thurs).
• Contractors are expected to work onsite during anchor week monthly.
• Local candidates preferred, but non-local candidates may receive per diem during anchor weeks.
• Full-time onsite candidates may be considered if travel reimbursement is feasible.
Salary : $58 - $87
