What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriter, Excess Casualty position at Allied World?
Job Objectives:
As an Underwriter on the Excess Casualty team, you will manage and grow a portfolio of general casualty business by exercising proper underwriting discipline, and by marketing and servicing both existing and potential retail clients. This position focuses on wholesale distribution with a targeted approach on construction, real estate, and products liability risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform account analysis according to Allied World (US) General Casualty guidelines.
• Develop account pricing, structure and terms and make recommendations.
• Perform and document referrals.
• Prepare quotes, binders, and underwriting worksheets within company guidelines.
• Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines.
• Delegate and supervise work to Account Coordinators as needed.
• Attend client meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable.
• Market to retailers within assigned region and engage production meetings.
• Work with Legal department for manuscript wording analysis and preparation as needed.
• Interact with senior management on referral items and train and work with UW Trainee and Junior Underwriters.
