Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Excess Casualty Underwriter to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing excess casualty risks for a wide range of commercial accounts. You will work closely with wholesale brokers to develop relationships, assess risk exposures, and structure competitive insurance solutions that align with company underwriting guidelines and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and price new and renewal excess casualty business in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.
- Analyze complex risks across various industries, including transportation, manufacturing, hospitality, construction and other high-hazard sectors.
- Assess policy terms, conditions, and coverage structures to provide tailored solutions to wholesale brokers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers to drive profitable growth.
- Negotiate terms and pricing with brokers while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including claims, actuarial, and risk management, to evaluate risk and policy performance.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the E&S marketplace.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, product development, and underwriting best practices to enhance team efficiency.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3 years of experience in excess casualty underwriting within the E&S insurance industry. Applicants with prior excess experience in mid-market or large commercial will also be considered.
- Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of risk assessment, policy forms, and coverage structures in the excess casualty space.
- Relationships: Established relationships with wholesale brokers is a plus.
