Position Objective:
Extrusion Operators are vital to the production process, responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machines that extrude and coat flat films from synthetic materials. In this role, you will operate production equipment such as blown film extruders, silicone coaters, and slitter/rewinders. You will collaborate both independently and as part of a team to meet customer specifications and production timelines.
Qualifications:
- Machine Operation Monitoring: Ability to observe gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure machines are functioning properly.
- Equipment Operation: Capable of controlling the operation of machinery or systems.
- Control Precision: Ability to adjust machine controls accurately to set positions.
- Availability: Willing to work holidays, overtime, and flexible hours as required.
- Measurement Proficiency: Familiarity with rulers, scales, gauges, and other measurement tools.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Problem Detection: Ability to recognize when a machine or process is malfunctioning.
- Problem Solving: Identify issues and work with the supervisor to troubleshoot or resolve them.
- Coordination: Ability to manipulate small objects or components with precision.
- Dependable Attendance: Consistent attendance with flexibility for non-standard work hours.
- Stress Management: Capable of managing job-related stress and maintaining positive workplace relationships.
Job Responsibilities:
- Adjust machine components to control speed, pressure, temperature, and material dimensions, ensuring product quality through measurement tools like micrometers or scales.
- Monitor machine operations, identifying malfunctions through lights and gauges.
- Clear machine jams and remove substandard materials/products.
- Notify supervisors of non-conforming products or production issues.
- Record production data including meter readings, quantities, types, and dimensions of materials produced.
- Review work orders and specifications to ensure proper settings and adjustments for machines.
- Regulate machine functions such as air pressure, vacuum creation, and coolant flow by adjusting controls.
- Clean and maintain dies, compression chambers, and molds.
- Synchronize machine speeds for multi-step production processes.
- Transport materials, components, and finished products using appropriate work aids.
- Install and configure machine components such as dies, molds, and cutters.
- Send product samples for lab analysis as required.
- Monitor and maintain air and gas lines to regulate material plasticity and final product solidification.
- Measure, mix, and prepare materials such as powder or rubber for processing.
- Remove finished products from molds and machines for further processing or storage.
- Complete work tickets and place them with finished products.
- Disassemble and repair equipment as needed, replacing parts like nozzles and filters.
- Use swabs, air hoses, and other tools to clean equipment and prevent material sticking.
- Ignite burners to preheat products and apply heat with torches where necessary.
- Align and adjust machine components to ensure production accuracy.
