About the Role:
Accounting Operations:
Coordinate the complete cycle of accounting operations, including semi-monthly payroll journal entries, batching and processing marked-up invoices, and maintaining detailed digital backups and working papers. Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and cryptocurrency transactions while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
Accounts Payable / Bill Pay:
Support preparing and processing accounts payable for semi-monthly check runs. Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payments while maintaining a robust control system and promptly resolving payment discrepancies.
Financial Close Process:
Streamline the month-end financial close process, including reallocating expenses from G&A to COGS on the P&L and preparing working papers for reconciliations. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
Reconciliations and Reporting:
Perform detailed monthly reconciliations for all financial accounts and assist with preparing accurate financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements. Conduct flux analysis to provide insights to stakeholders.
Accounting Policies Development:
Contribute to developing and refining accounting guidelines to ensure best practices and compliance with industry standards.
Technical Accounting Expertise:
Support the Financial Analyst and Finance Lead with guidance on complex accounting issues, particularly those related to cryptocurrency and blockchain transactions. As needed, assist with manual journal entries, realized and unrealized gains/losses accounting, and other ad hoc technical projects.
Experience & Skills:
- CPA designation preferred or in the process of obtaining CPA certification.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP principles and financial regulations.
- Strong proficiency with ERPs (e.g. QBO and Xero) and Digital Asset subledger tools (e.g. Bitwave, Cryptio, and CoinTracker) with advanced Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency and crypto accounting practices is highly desirable.
